“They”, never make sense. You know who I’m talking about. They’re the ones who say things like “the markets are going to go up ”, or that this stock or that stock is going to double in the next little while. They say it’s supposed to be a nice winter.
Who are they? They’re really just a collective of prognosticators who make forecasts about the future. But there are two problems with that. First, you can’t forecast the future. Many try and many will tell you that they have some insight into the future but if they actually did know what was going to happen, why on God’s green earth would they share it with you. The second problem with forecasters is there are way too many of them. At any given time, you have numerous forecasters saying one thing and just about as many saying the exact opposite. If you listened to both sides you’d do nothing about anything, ever.
Anyway, investing isn’t about predicting, it’s about protecting…but that’s a topic for a future blog.
